ELIZABETH AVEDON is an independent curator and photography book designer. The former Director of Photo-Eye Gallery, Santa Fe, and Creative Director for The Gere Foundation, Elizabeth has received awards and recognition for her exhibition design and publishing projects, including the retrospective exhibition and book, “Avedon: 1949–1979” for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, among others; “Richard Avedon: In the American West” for the Amon Carter Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and The Art Institute of Chicago; and curating several exhibitions at New York’s Leica Gallery.

Along with leading photo-editing and book design workshops in Vermont, Chicago, and Oaxaca and participating in many portfolio reviews including the New York Times Lens Reviews, Review Santa Fe, FilterPhoto Festival, FlashForward Festival, Photolucida and the recent Landskrona Foto Festival Review in Sweden, Elizabeth juried the 22nd Annual Peter Urban Legacy Exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Photography and will take part in the 2016 8th Edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award jury in Paris. She has been a contributor to L’oeil de la Photographie since 2014, profiling events and notable leaders in the world of Photography.
